Tuesday January 27

The trails were perfect at Telemark today. Saw some of the CXC elite team skiing. 

Only Trevor showed up for practice. He skied the 4 K Birkie loop. 

Tomorrow some of us will be at the Drummond trail. Meet there after school. 

Monday, Jan 26

Today at practice we did a very long ski, and tried out the Korte trail. Neil, Dustin, and Jenna showed up. It was freezing, just like yesterday, but it was a great workout. The snow had just been rolled on the birkie loops, and the snow on the korte was very hard.

Tomorrow we'll probably do speed work or time trails. On Wed. we're thinking about classic at Drummond trail.

Monday January 26, 2009

The plan for Monday is to meet at 1 p.m. at Telemark and ski for a couple of hours, if the weather permits. If it is really cold again, we'll take some breaks to warm up.  

Saturday and Sunday January 24-25

Saturday- Neil was the only skier from our Drummond club that showed up at 1 p.m.. After a 2 K warmup, he did a 5 K Time Trial with Matt. Then Neil and Mary did the Bauer trail. It was so cold the water bottles froze up, and so slow, it seemed to take forever.  A total of 15 K for Neil. Telemark was pretty busy with people tubing and skiing. 

Sunday- Neil and Jenna skied 5 K Birkie loop with Mary at 2 p.m. Matt was there skiing too but we were late and missed him. 

January 20

Today we did some speed work, with Mr. Knight and Mr. Randolph assisting.

Christina, Jenna, and Trevor attended today. We learned how to V2 on flats, and how to properly balance.

Sunday we're skiing at 1:00 at North End in Cable.

Sunday we skied on the World Cup Trail, as well as the Birkie 7k loop. Lots of big hills, like the Elevator Shaft! Jenna, Neil, Dustin, and Dakota were there. 

Monday we skied a 4k time trial, which we all did well.  Dustin, Christina, Jenna, and Kenny attended. 

Today we're sprinting, and looking for some big hills.

We also might have practice on Wednesday after school and Thursday.

Today we skied about two hours, and everyone except Trevor showed up!

Next weekend we are planning to ski at North End, and afterwords we'll have a little party with some food in the large warming hut. Hopefully everyone will show up to that practice.

January 12, 2009

Dustin and Matt placed first in the 6 hour race this Saturday at Telemark! Congratulations!

At practice today, Dustin and Jenna worked on technique with Mr. K. We skied the Birkie 5 k loop, stopping a lot and talking about balance, poling, V1, V2, turning corners, etc.. He is giving great tips on how to ski more efficiently and have more fun on those hills. 

The next practice will be Saturday. (too cold tomorrow and the rest of the week.) The time has not yet been determined.  

January 12, 2009

Ski practice after school today at Telemark. According to the forecast, it will probably be cold and windy. Mr. K will be there for help with technique. 

Yesterday we had practice at 8:30 a.m. at OO with Mr. K and Ms. M. Neil and Jenna were there. They worked on V-1, balance, poling, etc. 

Tuesday practice will be probably cancelled due to the low temps predicted. 

January 10, 2009

Dustin and Matt are skiing in the 24 hours at Telemark today. 

Tomorrow we plan to meet at OO and ski with John Knight at 8:30 a.m.

We had a pretty decent practice today after school with mild temperatures and a  freshly groomed trail. Did a 2 km. warm up and a 5 km. time trial. Double D, Christina, Trevor, and Jenna all skied.

Practice is cancelled, since nobody can make it.

There is practice tomorrow after school for those who don't have to go to the game.
