We haven't updated in a while.....
but our season is going well so far. We've had two races in Seeley and in Spooner and have another race in Seeley this weekend. We have 6 team racers, 2 individual racers, and 2 girls who ski with us on weekends. Our fundraisers went VERY well, bringing in plenty of funds for this year. We've had a lot of help from ski experts in the area, especially Pete Caron and Jesse Crandall. Thanks so much to them and our other volunteer coaches!!

This week, we have skate practice at Telemark after school Monday and Wednesday, and classic practice at Drummond ski trails on Tuesday and Thursday. Saturday we have 5 racers skiing in the Seeley Hills Classic 5k HS race, and one skier in the 22k race. Wish them luck!
Happy skiing!!

2009 Dryland training has started!

Our team is off to a great start this year. We have been working on fundraising and dryland training. Not enough money to go to West Yellowstone to find snow but enough for new uniforms and some new equipment. Hopefully we will get some snow soon.

It's Time Again!

The Drummond Telemarkers!

Next week we will be starting dryland training, as the snow is coming soon. Until the snow flies, we will be meeting at Telemark on Mondays and Wednesdays, and lifting weights at school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Our coaches this year are Mr. Randolph and Matt Dale. We are hoping to have a good boys team, and a full girls team! Practice starts on Monday Nov. 2nd, and we hope to see a full team there!

Good Bye for now

Our season has ended and we forgot to say goodbye for now. Dustin, Matt, and Dakota all finished up the season skiing in the Kortelopet  and the Riverview Loppet and did a great job. They are training for mountain bike races coming up in May. Neil and Jenna are in track and both running the mile.
We hope more kids join us next year and stick with it all season.

State Meet in Minocqua, WI

The State meet was a learning experience for us today. It is the end of the season for the other teams and only our second race. We placed 16th out of 19 teams in the pursuit (classic and freestyle combined score) and classic, and 15th out of 19 teams in the freestyle.  Dustin did pretty well, taking 53rd out of 122 in the freestyle race and 74th out of 118 in the classic, 61st out of 122 in the pursuit ranking . Dakota did well in the classic race (97) and showed potential in the freestyle race (103)  and 100th overall.  Jenna finished 32nd out of 51 in the MS  freestyle girls race and 45th in the classic . Neil, well, he sucked today, finishing 104th overall and had one of the worst sporting events of his lifetime. Also, thanks to Matt for spending 6+ hours of time waxing the skis!  Next practice we will work on some intervals, technique, and maybe a TT. Congrats everyone. There's always next year to improve and meet your personal and team goals. -Neil

In the mean time we'll keep skiing. We will be volunteering at the North End Race tomorrow and skiing at Telemark on Monday after school, unless it's raining. -Mary

First race today! In the high school boy's 5k Supertour race, Dustin did well, and so did Neil.
They hope to improve their times next weekend at the WI Championships.
We have practice tomorrow after school, and we'll be doing distance. Tuesday we're doing speed work. Hope to see you there!
